To implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, as well as the spirit of the university's Party and League Congresses, the School of Law at Beijing Normal University has officially launched its key 2025 summer social practice project, "Law Nourishes Youth, Education Shields the Future."
Aligned with the university Youth League Committee's theme of "Youth Serving the Country, Strengthening Teachers, and Building Dreams for the Future," this initiative leverages the school's disciplinary strengths to build a distinctive "Rule of Law + Education" brand. With strong support from college leadership and under the meticulous planning and expert guidance of Professors He Ting, Zhang Hong, and Guo Yating, the project dispatched three teams to Special Education Schools in Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces.
This marks the School's first initiative to seamlessly integrate scientific research with social practice. The teams conducted a series of activities combining field research, voluntary teaching, and public interest legal education, achieving fruitful results and positive social feedback.
Now, through the documentation from each team, we invite you to review the journey of these three practice teams, from their initial preparations to the successful completion of their missions.
01. Preparation Stage
Prior to the official launch, the teams undertook thorough and meticulous preparations. Professor He Ting, Vice Dean of the Law School, provided strategic oversight and assisted in establishing connections with the partner schools. The college convened a pre-departure meeting to clarify the objectives and guiding principles for all tasks. The three teams selected their members through a rigorous process of resume screening and interviews, and carefully designed and repeatedly refined their curriculum and research plans, laying a solid foundation for the summer practice.

02. Practice Implementation Phase
"Legal Education for Yuxin" Practice Team
The "Legal Education for Yuxin" practice team from Beijing Normal University—comprising members from the Law School, School of Psychology, School of Education, School of Foreign Languages and Literature, and School of Arts and Media—traveled to Shenzhen Yuxin School to conduct teaching support, research, and legal education initiatives.
The team advanced the professionalization of the curriculum system by developing targeted correctional courses, including psychological drama and mock trials, while integrating the "Five Educations" through aesthetic workshops, calligraphy and painting studios, and labor education to achieve dual outcomes in behavioral correction and value reshaping. Fieldwork was conducted in depth, utilizing 204 full-sample questionnaires, 31 in-depth interviews, and multi-role participatory observation to build a qualitative research database exploring behavioral causes and correctional pathways. Practical outcomes were multidimensional: events such as the "Farun Cup" basketball tournament, music choir, and mock trials created platforms for internalizing social rules, while replicable specialized correctional education curriculum packages and case analysis models provided empirical support for strengthening juvenile delinquency prevention and governance.

"Legal Education for Linhai" Practice Team
The "Legal Education for Linhai" practice team from Beijing Normal University—comprising members from the Law School, School of Psychology, School of Education, School of Mathematical Sciences, School of Economics and Business Administration, School of Foreign Languages and Literature, and School of Arts and Media—traveled to Linhai No. 7 Middle School in Zhejiang Province to conduct teaching support, research, and legal education initiatives.
The team developed a systematic correctional curriculum that integrates legal education components, such as psychological counseling and mock trials, with aesthetic and labor education to build a distinctive "Five Educations" framework. Through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and participatory observation, the team extensively collected first-hand data to explore the root causes of juvenile misbehavior, providing a basis for precise corrective measures. Additionally, by organizing cultural and sports activities alongside legal practice exhibitions, the team established a platform for the internalization of social rules, helping minors understand and abide by social norms through practical engagement.

"Legal Education for Zhenhui" Practice Team
The "Legal Education for Zhenhui" practice team from Beijing Normal University—comprising members from the School of Law, School of Psychology, School of Education, School of Physical Education and Sports, School of Arts and Media, and School of Foreign Languages and Literature—traveled to Zhenhui Special EDUCATION SCHOOL in Lu'an City, Anhui Province, to conduct comprehensive teaching support, research, and legal education activities.
Addressing the specific needs of the specialized school, the team innovatively constructed a "five-dimensional" curriculum system encompassing legal education practice, mental health, basic culture, art literacy, and quality development. They delivered over 90 lessons covering the entire student body. Additionally, the team offered parent workshops and community-based mental health and legal education programs to foster collaborative education among families, schools, and communities. To further their research on the current status of special education school construction, team members visited six entities, including the Municipal Communist Youth League Committee and the Political and Legal Affairs Commission, and conducted over 40 in-depth interviews with students, teachers, and parents.
The series of practical activities have been reported by multiple media outlets, including the "Legal Daily."
