Launch Ceremony and First Lecture of "Experts in Procuratorial Practice Entering Campus" Program of the Supreme People's Procuratorate Were Held at Beijing Normal University

On the afternoon of October 23, the launching ceremony and first lecture of the "Experts in Procuratorial Practice Entering Campus" program of the Supreme People's Procuratorate were held at the Yingdong Academic Hall of Beijing Normal University.



Kang Zhen, Vice President of Beijing Normal University, graced the launch ceremony and ceremoniously presented a commemorative lecture certificate to Zhang Xueqiao, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate. In his address, Kang Zhen, representing Beijing Normal University, extended a warm welcome to Zhang Xueqiao and the delegation from the Supreme People's Procuratorate, expressing gratitude for their enduring support and interest in the advancement of the legal discipline at the university. He underscored that the "Experts in Procuratorial Practice Entering Campus" initiative will be a pivotal element within the legal talent cultivation framework at Beijing Normal University. Kang Zhen expressed his optimism that the inception of this program will herald a new chapter in elevating the collaborative relationship between procuratorial bodies and academic institutions to unprecedented heights.



Following the launch ceremony, Zhang Xueqiao delivered an exclusive lecture entitled "Ideology as the Vanguard of Civilization – The Emergence of 'Procuratorial Public Interest Litigation'" to the faculty and students at the Law School at Beijing Normal University. Zhang Xueqiao expounded on the procuratorial public interest litigation system, discussing its evolution, theoretical framework, and global impact, with a focus on the " Four South Lakes" case, among others. He posited that the public interest litigation conducted by procuratorial bodies constitutes a mode of oversight, charitable, promotional, and collaborative legal action. By adhering to the tenet of public interest, the procuratorial organs mobilize the collective strengths of various sectors to propel the modernization of the national governance structure and capabilities. In doing so, they offer the "Chinese approach" to the world's legal heritage, effectively showcasing the vibrant application and innovative outcomes of Xi Jinping legal thought within the realm of public interest safeguarding, as well as its codification and institutionalization.



Xiao Wei, Vice Director of the Political Department of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Chai Rong, Secretary of the Party Committee at the Law School of Beijing Normal University, Professor Song Yinghui, and other guests were present at the launch ceremony and lecture. The event was moderated by Liang Yingxiu, Dean of the Law School of Beijing Normal University, with nearly 200 faculty members and students from the Law School engaging in the proceedings.
