At the invitation of the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (KICJ), Professor He Ting, Vice Dean of the College for Criminal Law Science, and Associate Professor Yang Chao, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office (PNI Office), represented the College at the 12th International Symposium of the Korean Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice in Seoul, South Korea. The KICJ is a member institution of the Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network (PNI) under the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The symposium also brought together representatives from PNI member institutions in Japan and Thailand, as well as the UNODC, and relevant delegates from academic research institutions and think tanks in China, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and other countries.

On October 16, 2025, the symposium took place at Yegrina Hall, located in the annex of the Korean Supreme Prosecutors' Office. Yoo Wan-seop, the Acting Prosecutor General, delivered the opening address, noting that the forum convened criminal justice research institutions and related bodies from across Asia to exchange views and discuss practical cooperation on transnational crime. He expressed his hope that the event would facilitate the sharing of research findings and practical experiences, ultimately leading to the exploration of effective policies to combat transnational crime.
Themed "Strengthening International Cooperation to Combat Transnational Organized Crime," the conference featured speeches from representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFEI) in Japan, and the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ). These speakers addressed topics such as cooperation under the framework of UN conventions and the enhancement of collaboration among Asian nations to fight transnational organized crime. Additionally, Associate Professor Yang Chao delivered a presentation on "Law Enforcement Cooperation in Combating Transnational Organized Crime," providing a detailed overview of China's successful, rule-of-law-based international cooperation with ASEAN countries in the fight against telecom fraud syndicates.

During the conference, Professor He Ting and Associate Professor Yang Chao actively engaged with PNI member institutions from the Asia-Pacific region, including the Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFEI) in Japan and the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ). They discussed concrete measures to further strengthen collaboration between the College for Criminal Law Science and other PNI members, as well as the potential for jointly hosting regional international conferences within the PNI network in the Asia-Pacific region.
