Representative faculty member Sun Xinkuan, in his address, highlighted that within the confines of university campuses, students are granted a unique liberty of choice during their lifelong journey. This freedom is both invaluable and deserving of our utmost reverence and exploitation. Yet, it carries a weighty burden, for with choice comes consequence and responsibility. The decisions we make are often a reflection of our self-understanding. While we possess the autonomy to choose, we must also confront the outcomes of our decisions. To be accountable for the path one selects is to be accountable for the trajectory of one's life. Teacher Sun implores all students to gain a profound comprehension of themselves, to resolutely opt for the path that aligns with their aspirations, and to emerge as conscientious legal professionals throughout their academic pursuits.

Xu Xingtong, a member of the 2023 undergraduate class, spoke on behalf of the new undergraduates. He contended that university is not a four-year respite following twelve years of diligent study, but rather an intense quest for truth and practical wisdom, characterized by sharp intellect and measured actions. It necessitates the valor to set sail into the vast sea and the tenacity to “sift through the sands to find the gold. Xu extended his hope that all students will strive for independence and self-reliance, apply their knowledge with conviction, dare to keep pace with the times, and fulfill the era's expectations. May they learn to treasure their nation, pursue their youthful aspirations, and through concrete actions, continue to pen the next chapter of the rule of law for the betterment of the world. In doing so, they will realize the Chinese Dream of national prosperity and rejuvenation, and carry forward the indelible spirit bequeathed by generations of legal professionals from Beijing Normal University.

Furthermore, Zhou emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced perspective on success and failure, profit and loss—rejecting the relentless pursuit of material gain and the complacent acceptance of mediocrity.
