Alumni Homecoming
On the afternoon of September 8, 2024, alumni from Class 3 of the Law School's undergraduate and master's programs, who graduated a decade prior in 2014, made a nostalgic return to Beijing Normal University. They gathered to relive their youthful memories and to celebrate the enduring bond between teachers and students. At 2:00 p.m., a reunion symposium commenced in Room 1822 Gao Mingxuan Academic Lecture Hall. Esteemed attendees included Professor Liang Yingxiu, Dean of the Law School; Professor Chai Rong, Secretary of the Party Committee; Professor Yin Jianfeng, Vice Dean; Associate Professor Shang Haowen, Director of the Alumni Office; and Ms. Jia Wanting, who then served as the head teacher for Class 3 of the Master of Laws program of which students graduated in 2014.
2014-2024
To kick off the event, Secretary Chai Rong extended a heartfelt welcome to the returning alumni from Class 3 of the undergraduate and master's programs, who graduated in 2014, on behalf of the Law School. She noted that a decade is a significant span for all, a period during which the alumni have accumulated a wealth of experiences and accomplishments. She expressed warmth at the sight of classmates bringing their children to the campus and encouraged everyone to visit their alma mater frequently.
Vice Dean Yin Jianfeng then highlighted the Law School's recent progress and the substantial achievements made in various domains, including discipline construction and talent cultivation.
Associate Professor Shang Haowen detailed the School's alumni initiatives over the past few years, expressing his commitment to establishing a broader platform for communication and collaboration among the alumni. He also conveyed his earnest hope that alumni would return to the Law School often.
Ms. Jia Wanting reflected on the reunion after ten years, observing that while the alumni had evolved—assuming pivotal roles in their respective fields and starting their own families—they remained unchanged in their youthful vigor and spirit. She expressed her hope that everyone would continue to champion the rule of law and embody integrity and benevolence in their lives.
Dean Liang Yingxiu finally welcomed all alumni back to the School again, and said that the alumni team of the Law School is now growing stronger and stronger. The excellent results achieved by the Law School are inseparable from the outstanding contributions of the alumni. The School will continue to practice the Beijing Law School spirit of "moral education and law practice in the world", forge ahead, strive to innovate in the inheritance of generations of Beijing law scholars, work hand in hand with alumni to pursue dreams and jointly create a better future for the Law School.
During the subsequent interactive session, the alumni enthusiastically shared their professional and personal journeys, accomplishments, and insights garnered over the past decade. Universally, they conveyed that despite venturing down different paths since graduation, their affection and concern for the Law School's progress and future remain unwavering. They expressed genuine joy over the Law School's notable achievements in the last ten years and took pride in their affiliation with the institution. Moving forward, they vowed to maintain their support and contribute to their alma mater's continued development.
To conclude the event, the alumni and faculty jointly cut a cake for the 10th-anniversary, symbolizing the sweetness and splendor of their shared memories. The symposium drew to a successful close, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
This homecoming event served as a bridge for alumni to revisit their university days, engage in meaningful conversations, and reinforce the bonds of their alumni community. We eagerly anticipate another reunion in the years to come, to once again celebrate the enduring connections and collective spirit of the Law School family.
