1. Competition Introduction

The Beijing University Student Moot Court Competition is an innovative public welfare initiative and practical learning experience for higher education students. It is designed to advance the pedagogical transformation of legal education in universities, foster a spirit of collaboration among future legal professionals, expand their academic perspectives, and enhance their practical and creative skills. This competition embraces the philosophy of being "government-supported, expert-guided, student-focused, and community-involved." It follows the rigorous protocols of actual courtroom proceedings, with competition cases drawn directly from real-life legal scenarios. The adjudicating panel for each round features distinguished members from the judicial community, including representatives from the courts, procuratorates, and the legal profession.

II. Historical Achievements

The representative team from the BNU Law School has consistently engaged in this competition over multiple sessions, achieving exemplary outcomes. Over the past six years of the Beijing University Student Moot Court Competition, our team has secured the first-place trophy on four occasions, and several of our distinguished team members have been honored with the title of best debater.

III. Schedule

The competition is anticipated to take place in March or April of this year, spanning approximately one month in duration. Teams will compete in up to three matches to determine the champion. Our objective remains unwavering: to claim the first prize. We invite those of you who are bold enough to accept the challenge to join the Beijing Normal University team and help us build upon our illustrious record of success.

IV. Eligibility

Each university is limited to one representative team, and each participating team consists of 6 members, 1 team leader and 1 instructor. According to past practice, we will select a formal team of 6 people and choose about 3 reserve players as appropriate. We will train together, simulate together, compete together, and grow together.

We extend a warm invitation to junior (Class of 2021) and sophomore (Class of 2022) students at the Law School to apply for participation. Candidates should possess a robust foundation in legal studies, exceptional verbal communication and logical reasoning abilities, as well as adequate time to dedicate to competition preparation.

The composition of the official team will be drawn from undergraduate students of the Class of 2021, along with high-achieving students of the Class of 2022 from the Law School. Additionally, the reserve team will primarily consist of undergraduates of the Class of 2022, who will engage in preliminary training and readiness activities in anticipation of next year's competition.

V. Registration Method

Students who are interested in participating in the competition must send their resume (including phone number, student ID, WeChat ID, etc.) to bnulian@163.com before 7:00 pm on March 7, 2024. The email title and attachment should be named "Name + Moot Court Competition Registration".
