1. Competition Introduction

The Beijing University Student Moot Court Competition is a pioneering public welfare initiative and practical exercise for university students, designed to advance the pedagogical transformation of legal education in higher institutions. This event nurtures a spirit of collaboration among future legal professionals, expands their academic perspectives, and enhances their practical and innovative skills. The competition embraces the philosophy of "government-supported, expert-guided, student-focused, and community-engaged." It strictly follows the formal court trial process, with competition cases drawn directly from real-life legal scenarios. The adjudicating panel for each round consists of esteemed professionals from the judicial sector, including members of the judiciary, prosecution services, and the legal profession.

II. Historical Achievements

The Law School's representative team has participated in this competition for many consecutive sessions and has achieved outstanding results. In 2017, 2018 and 2019, our school's team won the first prize in the Beijing University Student Moot Court Competition.

III. Schedule

The competition is scheduled to take place in May or June of this current year, with an anticipated duration of over a month. Participating teams will engage in a maximum of three matches to determine the champion. Our objective is clear: to secure the top prize. We extend an invitation to those of you with the courage to face this challenge to become a part of the Beijing Normal University team, as we strive to maintain our legacy of outstanding accomplishments.

IV. Eligibility

Each university is limited to one representative team, and each participating team consists of 6 members, 1 team leader and 1 instructor. According to past practice, we will select a formal team of 6 people and choose about 3 reserve players as appropriate. We will train together, simulate together, compete together, and grow together.

Junior (Class of 2020) and sophomore (Class of 2021) students at the Law School are welcome to apply. Students are required to have a solid foundation in law, strong verbal expression and logical thinking skills, and sufficient time to prepare for the competition.

The official participating team members will be undergraduate students from the Class of 2020 of the Law School or undergraduate students from the Class of 2021 with outstanding performance. The reserve team members will be mainly undergraduate students from the Class of 2021, who will warm up in advance and prepare for next year's competition.
