Zhang Weichen, a Doctoral Candidate at the Law School Attended the 1st National Young Scholars Academic Forum on "Property Rights and Governance"

On October 19, 2024, the inaugural National Young Scholars Academic Forum on "Property Rights and Governance" took place at the Law School of Shanghai University in Baoshan. The event was hosted by the Law School of Shanghai University, organized by its Faculty Development Research Center, co-organized by its Intellectual Property Law and Management Research Center, and supported by Beijing Qikun Intellectual Property Agency Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Zhonghao Law Firm. Participants of the conference included Professor Chen Su, a member of the Academic Division of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Journal of Law; Professor Ma Zhongfa, a doctoral supervisor from the School of Law at Fudan University; Wang Fei, Director of Beijing Qikun Intellectual Property Agency Co., Ltd.; Gong Qinghua, Director of Shanghai Zhonghao Law Firm; Professor Li Fengzhang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the Law School of Shanghai University; Yuan Zeng, Vice Dean of the Law School of Shanghai University; Professor Wenxue Guo from the Law School of Shanghai University; Dr. Zhang Yurong, Director of the Faculty Development Research Center; as well as doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers from Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, Southeast University, Soochow University, and Anhui University. The gathering brought together a diverse and distinguished group to engage in scholarly discourse on the forum's theme.




Zhang Weichen, a doctoral candidate at the Law School of Beijing Normal University, was invited to join the forum and presented a paper titled "On the Implementation of Patent Rights: Insights from the Patent Open Licensing Perspective" within the sub-forum on Intellectual Property and Knowledge Management. Zhang Weichen's presentation primarily delved into the operational mechanism of the patent open licensing system, examining the existing challenges in patent open licensing through both theoretical and practical lenses. He concluded his talk with a set of targeted recommendations aimed at addressing both theoretical and practical concerns. During the academic commentary session, Professor Chen Su, Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Journal of Law, and Professor Ma Zhongfa offered their insights. Professor Chen Su commended the significance of the research topic and highlighted the importance of maintaining a problem-solving mindset throughout the research process. Professor Ma Zhongfa provided feedback on specific aspects of the paper, offering detailed suggestions on how to approach the topic and enhance the theoretical depth and logical coherence of the content.
