In December 2023, the Supreme People's Procuratorate opened its doors to receive legal interns for 2024 from universities across China. The Law School of Beijing Normal University attaches great importance to this work and has identified and recommended intern candidates through a strict selection procedure. During the internship, our students took Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and Xi Jinping's Thought on the Rule of Law as their guidance, comprehensively studied and understood the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, implemented the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and actively participated in procuratorial assistance and judicial administration work under the guidance of their tutors in the departments and bureaus where they were located. They exerted their professional expertise in judicial practice, improved their capabilities and qualities in procuratorial practice, and received unanimous praise from the internship units and departments where they were located.

Who interned at the International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People's Procuratorate
Throughout my internship, I had the privilege of engaging in numerous international and inter-regional criminal judicial assistance cases, where I witnessed our nation's unwavering commitment to protecting national interests and its confidence in upholding judicial credibility on the global stage. I contributed to the development of responses to proposals from National People's Congress deputies and research on procuratorial reforms, gaining insight into how to effectively address public concerns and drive substantive changes through the melding of theory and practice. My involvement in the planning of various international diplomatic events showcased the country's demeanor as a major player in the realm of international engagement. Additionally, I participated in various judicial administrative tasks, such as creating educational materials for prosecutor lectures, which honed my sense of the bigger picture and instilled a meticulous approach to work. This internship has made me acutely aware of my own deficiencies and the need for continuous self-improvement. I am resolute in my dedication to strive for excellence in my future studies and to contribute wholeheartedly to the advancement of foreign-related rule of law.
Li Ruochen, a JM student of Class of 2022
Who interned at the Major Crimes Procuratorate of the Supreme People's Procuratorate
During my internship, guided by the principle of "handling every case with excellence and efficiency," I frequently engaged in and supported the management of specific cases, thereby experiencing the pursuit of the rule of law embodied in "serving the greater good, serving the people, and assuming responsibility for the rule of law" within judicial practice. I actively contributed to the drafting of official documents, analyzed and examined relevant guiding opinions, and articulated my own perspectives and insights grounded in professional theoretical knowledge. I diligently enhanced my professional caliber and theoretical understanding, authoring articles and papers based on my observations and learnings throughout the internship. These were published in procuratorial periodicals such as the "Procuratorate Daily" and "People's Procuratorate," and were notably reposted by the official website of the Supreme People's Procuratorate. Engaging in various judicial administrative tasks further nurtured my attention to detail and my sense of the broader context.
The Supreme People's Procuratorate's Legal Internship Program is an important measure taken by the Supreme People's Procuratorate to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping's thoughts on the rule of law, deepen exchanges and cooperation between the procuratorate and universities in law, and promote positive interaction between legal education and procuratorial practice. Since the Supreme People's Procuratorate established the legal intern system in 2017, many students from the Law School of Beijing Normal University have been selected as legal interns of the Supreme People's Procuratorate. In the future, the Law School of Beijing Normal University will continue to be guided by Xi Jinping's thoughts on the rule of law, practice the school motto of "Pursue Moral Education, Promote the Rule of Law", adhere to the combination of theory and practice, deepen exchanges and cooperation with judicial organs, continue to supply high-quality legal talents, and contribute to China's rule of law cause.
