The May 4th Youth Forum focused on improving the ideological nature, affinity and effectiveness of theoretical learning, guiding young League members to internalize and put into action the important requirements put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping to young people, and further clarifying the responsibilities and obligations of Chinese youth in the new era.
1. The secretary of the Youth League Committee gave a League lecture
The theme of this lecture was "Stand up to your responsibilities and let your youth bloom where the people need it most". Combining the important spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's article "We must uphold the philosophy of 'putting the people first'", Teacher Chen Xuanyu clarified the importance of upholding the fundamental position of putting the people first, and emphasized that as we embark on a new journey and face new challenges, young people should always remember "who I am, whom I work for, and whom I rely on", and truly combine themselves with the people and the Party's cause, so that "standing up to your responsibilities" becomes the most distinctive symbol of Chinese youth in the new era. In addition, he also encouraged us to work hard to hone our skills to serve the people, cherish our time and live up to our youth, increase our knowledge and cultivate our character through learning, increase our talents and acquire skills through practice, keep our promise to the future in the name of youth, and follow the road of struggle with our heads held high.
2. Theme lectures by the BNU Legal Lecture Group
Li Jinze, Liu Chang and Wang Jialu, three members of the Legal Lecture Group, gave lectures themed "Do not stay in the same old rut, do not rest on laurels, change with the times, and develop with the customs - On the evolution and innovation of socialist democracy and rule of law with Chinese characteristics", elaborating from three dimensions: "Chinese wisdom accumulated over time: democratic theory in Party history", "China's answer to the question of democracy: the theory of whole-process people's democracy" and "China's solution for people's mastery of their own affairs: the vivid practice of whole-process people's democracy".
Starting from the democratic theory in the Party history, Li Jinze explored in depth the manifestations of democracy and the rule of law in various periods such as the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Agrarian Revolution, the Socialist Revolution and Construction, and discovered the wisdom of people's democracy and the rule of law from history. Liu Chang focused his attention on "whole-process people's democracy" and, starting from the "whole" in "whole-process people's democracy", deeply analyzed the connotation of "whole-process people's democracy". Wang Jialu focused on the vivid practice of whole-process people's democracy and used multiple cases to vividly illustrate the Chinese solution of people being masters of their own country.
3. Speeches by representatives of outstanding Youth League School members
Yan Fangfei and Zheng Xiyang, as representatives of outstanding members of the Youth League School, gave wonderful speeches. They reviewed the wonderful moments of this year's Youth League School and talked about what they had gained from the Youth League School. They also established new goals and encouraged students to let their youthful dreams fly in the vivid practice of realizing the Chinese Dream and write a brilliant chapter in their lives through unremitting struggle for the interests of the people.
4. Read "The Mission of the ‘Morning Bell’" in chorus
"Youth is the king of life, the spring of life, and the flower of life. There is no word "difficulty" in the dictionary of youth. There is no "barrier" in the speech of youth. Only by leaping forward, only by soaring high, only by knowing one's own free spirit, eccentric thoughts, sharp intuition, and lively life can one create an environment and conquer history." The meeting came to an end as everyone read aloud "The Mission of the ‘Morning Bell’". In 1919, countless young students of our age held high the banner of patriotism, raised the sails of democracy and science, and opened a new chapter of ideological emancipation. Today, 105 years later, we are gathering here to review the May 4th spirit and learn from the role models around us through the May 4th Youth Forum!
We hope that all young League members can carry forward the May 4th spirit, pass on youthful energy, respond to the mission of the times, and embrace infinite possibilities. At the same time, we also wish that all League members can dare to think, dare to act, and be good at achieving success in their future studies and work, and be determined to be good young people of the new era who have ideals, dare to take responsibility, can endure hardships, and are willing to work hard!
