On the morning of April 21, 2025, the 61st lecture of the BNU Zhuhai Legal Lecture Series was successfully held in Room A103 of the Lijiao Building at BNU Zhuhai. The event featured Associate Professor He Tianxiang from the City University of Hong Kong School of Law (also Director of the LL.M. Program) as the keynote speaker. He delivered a special lecture titled "International Publication of Legal Academic Achievements: Sharing Experiences, Writing Skills, and Academic Reflections in an English Context." The session was hosted by faculty member Wu Qian, with Associate Professor Yan Yu from Xiamen University School of Law and Associate Professor Du Ruyi from Jinan University School of Law serving as panelists.

At the beginning of the lecture, Associate Professor He Tianxiang posed the question, "What is the purpose of doing academic work?" He emphasized that academia is not merely a means of making a living, but a vital pathway to pursue truth and advance knowledge. He then introduced the evaluation criteria for papers in an English context, specifically detailing the classification of SSCI-indexed journals—including general versus specialized legal reviews—and distinguishing between student-led and industry-led law journals. Regarding the submission process, Associate Professor He provided a step-by-step guide covering journal selection, writing, and submission.

During the discussion segment, Associate Professor Yan Yu highly praised the lecture, affirming the significance of SSCI journals within the "pre-tenure to tenure" system from the perspective of academic career development. Associate Professor Du Ruyi explained international publication norms from a practical standpoint, advocating for an academic communication matrix that promotes the coordinated development of Chinese and English journals, thereby offering a dual-track solution for young scholars to broaden their influence.

In the Q&A session, Associate Professor He Tianxiang provided professional interpretations on topics of academic evaluation criteria, doctoral application strategies, and academic career planning, addressing the concerns of teachers and students. By deconstructing the key nodes in the entire process of academic writing, including the refinement of research questions, systematic literature reviews, and methodological innovations, Associate Professor He Tianxiang emphasizes the driving role of intrinsic academic interest in knowledge production. His sharing, which combines theoretical depth and practical value, resonates strongly with the audience.

The lecture concluded successfully amidst enthusiastic applause from the students in attendance.
