Professor Wu Zongxian Attended the 4th Seminar on the Construction of First-Class Public Security Disciplines in the New Era

On November 16, 2024, Wu Zongxian, a second-level professor, doctoral supervisor and director of the Institute of Crime and Correction of the Law School and the College for Criminal Law Science of Beijing Normal University, was invited to the People's Public Security University of China to participate in the fourth seminar on the construction of first-class public security disciplines in the new era held by the university.




The seminar was held in the Gaojing Building of the People's Public Security University of China. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Huo Hongtao, Vice President of the People's Public Security University of China. After Professor Wang Yi, the newly-appointed President of the People's Public Security University of China, delivered a welcome speech, Professor Lin Wei, President of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Professor Chen Gang, Vice President of the People's Public Security University of China, and other experts made reports.




In China, since criminology has been established as a secondary discipline under the primary discipline of public security science, the People's Public Security University of China, along with its criminology program, has assumed a distinctive and pivotal role. The university boasts a dedicated School of Criminology, which offers a comprehensive curriculum spanning undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, making it one of the few premier institutions in China specializing in criminology education and research. Addressing the critical theme of advancing criminology in China, including the role and mission of the criminology discipline at the People's Public Security University of China, Professor Wu Zongxian has conducted extensive contemplation and proffered several proposals. His insights are aimed at contributing to the progress and enhancement of criminology in China.
