On April 3, the second session of the Hong Kong Law Lecture Series was successfully held in a classroom of Lijiao Building at Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai. The lecture was delivered by Lawyer Alan Chiu, the Managing Partner of Zhang Shuji and Alan Chiu Law Firm. Esteemed Chair Professor Zhao Wenzong of the Law School at Beijing Normal University moderated the session. A diverse audience of undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students from the Law School eagerly gathered to absorb the knowledge and insights being shared.

Lawyer Alan Chiu, a specialist in intellectual property and entertainment law with a wealth of experience in cross-border legal services, opened his lecture by delineating the breadth of entertainment law. This overview included, but was not restricted to, contract law, copyright law, trademark law, and liability for infringement. He then posed a provocative question: Do boundaries exist in the online realm, and can internet celebrities speak without restraint? Lawyer Chiu delved into a comprehensive analysis of this issue, examining both the authenticity and legality of online content. Lawyer Alan Chiu highlighted the potential risks associated with KOL fans and sponsors, including significant data fraud, deceptive product endorsements, and false marketing, all of which he characterized as untruthful content. Furthermore, through the lens of case studies, he elucidated in straightforward terms the legal repercussions that stem from engaging in deleterious marketing practices, identity theft, violations of personal privacy, copyright infringement, defamation, and cyberbullying.

During the discussion session, Professor Zhao Wenzong provided insightful comments on the lecture. Professor Zhao introduced the relevant regulations for protecting vulnerable groups in Hong Kong and had in-depth discussions with Lawyer Alan Chiu on how copyright can be continuously traded. Finally, Professor Zhao Wenzong proposed that students should have the courage to choose emerging fields.

Following the lecture, Lawyer Alan Chiu, Professor Zhao Wenzong, and over a dozen students from the Law School engaged in a stimulating symposium focused on entertainment law. As the discussion was set to commence, the students took turns introducing themselves and sharing their motivations for pursuing an interest in entertainment law. Throughout the interactive session, Lawyer Alan Chiu adeptly addressed the students' inquiries with a professional and measured approach. He underscored the critical nature of establishing trust between lawyers and their clients, emphasizing that a profound comprehension of the client's industry is essential to fostering this trust. Moreover, the students broached a range of topics, including the legal responsibilities of news headlines that infringe upon personal rights, the compensation matters related to the defamation of artists, and the delicate balance between an artist's right to privacy and the public's right to information. Lawyer Alan Chiu drew from his extensive experience to provide nuanced and detailed responses to each of these complex questions.

In conclusion, Professor Zhao Wenzong extended heartfelt thanks to Lawyer Alan Chiu for his passionate and generous sharing of knowledge. The students conveyed their immense appreciation, stating that they had derived significant benefit from the session. The lecture concluded on a high note, with the students' enthusiastic applause resonating through the room, signifying its resounding success.
