On the morning of September 24, 2024, Wu Zongxian, a second-level professor and doctoral supervisor at the Law School and College for Criminal Law Science of Beijing Normal University, was invited to give a lecture at the National Community Correction Work Training Class held by the Community Correction Management Bureau of the Ministry of Justice in Fuzhou, Fujian Province.

The lecture by Professor Wu Zongxian was moderated by Deputy Director Chen Peiyong, a first-level inspector at the Community Correction Management Bureau of the Ministry of Justice. Professor Wu Zongxian's presentation, entitled "An Initial Comparison of Chinese and Western Community Correction Systems," showcased his preliminary findings from a comparative study of community correction practices in China and the West. He discussed his research across four dimensions: the scope of comparison, the foundational aspects, primary commonalities, and key differences. Over the years, Professor Wu Zongxian has not only engaged in comprehensive and profound theoretical research on community correction in China and Western nations—including Europe, North America, and Australia—but has also undertaken on-site visits and examined the practical operations of community correction facilities in countries like Canada, the United States, and Australia. This extensive experience was evident in his lecture, which was characterized by its rich content and broad scope. The event drew an audience of over 200 directors from the Community Correction Management Bureau of the Ministry of Justice, as well as from the community correction management bureaus (departments) of various provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions), and some leaders from grassroots community correction management bureaus (departments). Following the lecture, Director Xiao Chaoyue of the Education and Correction Department at the Community Correction Management Bureau of the Ministry of Justice provided insightful commentary.
