At 10:00 am on November 29, 2013, Professor Michael B. Salerno of the Law School of the University of California, Hastings, visited the Law School of BNU and gave a wonderful lecture titled "ADMNISTRATIVE LAW: USA AND CALIFORNIA OVERVIEW" to teachers and students of our School. Associate Professor Zhang Hong, deputy dean of the School of Law, presided over the lectures and made wonderful comments. Associate Professor Guo Shu and Ms. Tang Yu attended the lecture.
Professor Michael B. Salerno introduced what is the law under the American system, the origins of American law and their interrelationships, and the separation of powers. He mentioned the Marbury v. Madison case, which had a significant and far-reaching impact on the American political system. He pointed out that since the case, the US Supreme Court has established the right to interpret the constitution, determine whether the government's actions and the legislative actions of the Congress are unconstitutional. Professor Michael B. Salerno talked about the two major developments of American law in the 20th century as legislative dominance and administrative state, and they were introduced separately. He also listed the administrative practices of the United States through slides.
After the explanation, Professor Michael B. Salerno patiently answered the questions of the students, and introduced the LLM project of the University of California, Hastings Law School to the students present, and encouraged the students to study in the United States.
