In order to broaden their horizons and enhance their knowledge, from July 26th to August 9th, 2014, the Beijing Normal University Law School organized four undergraduate students from the Jude College to attend the summer program at the Georgetown University Law Center in the United States and achieved a complete success. During the period, the rich curriculum and activities benefited the students.
In this summer course, the students focused on the US Constitution and the American economy. The curriculum was based on the Federalist Collection and the US Constitution. The students were informed about the US Constitution through different aspects. Teachers and students discussed the influence of religious culture on the US Constitution and the influence of the economy on the establishment of the Constitution. In the constant Q&A study, the students gradually adapted to dialectical thinking and questioning.
While attending the challenging course, the students also visited a series of venues, including the US Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the World Bank, the Chinese Embassy in the United States, etc., and also had the opportunity to listen to speakers from different parties. These include US Supreme Court Justice ANTIONIN SCALIA, Congressman CHARLES BOUSTANY, and Clinton President Advisor EMMET FLOOD. In the course of the speech, the students not only listened, but also thought, and raised their own opinions and problems. These activities and lectures gave students a more vivid understanding of the division of power in the United States and the world situation.
Not only that, the event was attended by students from different countries and schools. During the period, students and teaching assistants from Hong Kong, Singapore, and Vietnam, and students from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Politics and Law, and University of International Business and Economics discussed and exchanged. So I learned to understand the problem through different cultural perspectives, and established a deep friendship in this short two-week study.
The event was led by the school's teacher Hu Junhong. During this period, the students of our school performed well, diligently asked questions, and generously decent, which not only showed the excellent style of Beijing Normal University Law School, but also reflected the contemporary Chinese college students. The style has left a good impression on the other school and laid a good foundation for further deepening cooperation between the two universities.
