On the morning of March 8, 2016, Professor Robert Schapiro, Dean of Emory University Law School, visited the Two faculties of law of Beijing Normal University. He also visited Emory University student life, funding, and Mr. Ethan Rosenzwieg, Director of the Admissions Office, Ms. Lynn Labuda, Director of the Master of Laws program at Emory University, and Ms. Zhao Yuyin, a law school alumnus at Emory University. Professor Lu Jianping, secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Normal University, Professor Wang Xiumei, Director of the International Exchange Department of Beijing Normal University, Professor Liang Yingxiu, Associate Dean of Beijing Normal University Law School, and Professor Zhou Zhenjie of the Criminal College of Beijing Normal University attended the meeting.
Professor Lu Jianping, secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Normal University Law School, first expressed his warm welcome to the guests. He then reviewed the cooperation between the two sides in the summer project and expressed their willingness to cooperate with the other side in other aspects. Professor Lu Jianping, secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Normal University Law School, briefly introduced the current situation of students' composition and international exchanges in the two schools of law. Professor Wang Xiumei, Director of the International Exchange Division of Beijing Normal University, introduced the international exchanges of Beijing Normal University in recent years, and pointed out that Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus will recruit and train students at the same level as Beijing Normal University. Expressed the hope to establish a joint college with Emerson University Law School to train students. Professor Robert Schapiro, Dean of the Emory University School of Law, gave a brief introduction to the history, student composition and international exchange of Emory Law School, and expressed his pleasure to establish a joint college with the Beijing Normal University.
The talks ended in a pleasant atmosphere, and the two sides kept souvenirs and took a group photo.
After the talks, Professor Robert Schapiro, Dean of the Emory University School of Law, gave a lecture on the theme of "The Death of Justice Scalia and the Impact on the United States Supreme Court" by law school students. The teacher presided over, the Associate Dean of the Law School Liang Yingxiu, Professor Xia Yang, Professor Su Mingyue of the Criminal Academy participated in the lecture, and had a heated discussion with Professor Robert Schapiro. The students of the law school also had active questions. Finally, the lecture ended in a warm applause.
