To respond the requirement proposed by President XI Jinping in the speech at Peking University Teacher and Student Symposium on “cultivating socialism builders and successors featuring an all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and art”, “focusing on Marxism theory education, deepening student’s cognition of historical inevitability of Marxism and theoretical significance and realistic significance of scientific truth”, “understanding history of Chinese nation, inheriting Chinese culture gene, having a sense of national pride and cultural self-confidence”, to inherit May Fourth moment spirit of students of Beijing Normal University in caring for the fate of nation and people, loving the country, being bold to explore and innovate, actively fighting on the front line of revolution, on the evening of May 27, 2018, Youth League Branch of Excellent Experimental Class of 2017 of Law School of Beijing Normal University and Youth League Branch of Hande Experimental Class of 2017 organized “Stay True to the Mission, Follow the Party” Youth Day Theme CYL Day Event.

At the beginning, as the host of the event, ZHENG Yili, League Branch Secretary of Excellent Class, introduced theme and form of the event to the students and described the conceiving process of the event.

The event was divided into two parts. The first part was a simulation conference, in which students respectively assumed the delegates of China, Japan, U.S., U.K. France, etc. to simulate Paris Peace Conference of 1919. This part focused on the theme of “stay true to the mission” and made students feel the weak speaking right of China with weak comprehensive national power in international world and difficulty to safeguard sate sovereignty and interest in that international environment.
After briefly introducing the agenda of simulation conference, the host announced the start of the conference. First, Chinese delegate proposed the topic of the conference-- “Can China Resume Sovereignty of Shandong Peninsula”, followed by the first round of speech on the topic. In this round of speech, all delegates actively gave speech and discussed, fully utilized their knowledge of history and politics and collected materials, tried to recover current international environment, truly showed interest dispute of all countries, and proposed unique opinion and proposal for the interest of the country they acted for.

After the first round of speech, here came to the question and canvassing from country to country. In this part, Chinese delegate and Japanese delegate, as the main interest conflict parties in the conference, had a heated debate on “force of ‘Article 21’”, “legitimacy of Japanese military action” and “force of behavior of Germany in transferring sovereignty of Shandong Peninsula”, which truly reproduced the interest game of countries in the diplomatic field and exploitation and oppression from big powers on China. In the third round of speech, all delegates expatiated on their own stands and reasons.

In the last part of the conference--voting, all delegates voted for the topic “Can China Resume Sovereignty of Shandong Peninsula”. Chinese delegate and U.S. delegate voted for the topic, while Japanese delegate, U.K. delegate and French delegate voted against the topic. Finally, the conference came to the end as same as the history. During the conference, Chinese delegate argued strongly on just grounds and won the applause of all delegates, but the end did not change, which made us clearly realize the dominant position of state interest and importance of comprehensive national power in diplomatic occasion.

After the simulation conference, students watched relevant segment of Paris Peace Conference from movie My 1919, and felt the shameless conduct of big powers. The righteous speech of GU Weijun at the conference and refutation against the unreasonable demand of Japan inspired the patriotic enthusiasm of students.

Later, MENG Ziyu gave a speech themed in “Brief Talk of ‘Weak Nation Has No Diplomacy’”. He used the case of Bashar Jafari, Ambassador of Syria in UN and recent diplomatic performance of Korea to refute the view of “Weak Nation Has No Diplomacy”, pointed out that “Weak Nation Has No Diplomacy” should be cautiously mentioned when our country became more powerful, reviewed the atmosphere that all diplomatic interests were achieved with a powerful country, and warned that a powerful country should also emphasize diplomacy.

At last, all members rose up to sing the anthem of Communist Youth League, which brought to a successful close to the event.
