The Graduate Students’ Union of Law School of Beijing Normal University is a student organization of "self-education, self-management, self-supervision and self-service" under the leadership of the Party Committee of the School and the guidance of the Youth League Committee of the School. Adhering to the motto that "Talents of moral education practice law in the world", insisting on the tenet of "serving students heart and soul", and in combination with with the characteristics of the School, it carries out a series of academic exchanges, campus practical activities and social public welfare activities with the characteristics of law subject, which enrich the students’ campus life and promote their all-round development.
Organizational Framework of the Union
The presidium of the Graduate Students’ Union of the Law School is composed of one chairman and six vice-chairmen. The presidium is fully responsible for the daily work of the Graduate Students’ Union. The members of the presidium are in charge of 1-2 different functional sections and responsible for the daily work of the sections. Under the Graduate Students’ Union, there are 9 functional sections, which are Section of Rights and Interests, General Office, Academic Section, Practice Section, Liaison Section, News Transmission Center, Alumni Exchange Center, Section of Literature and Art and Sports Section.
Section of Rights and Interests
并会在重大时间节点如5·20[1]等开展特色外场和线上活动，丰富同学们的日常生活。
The Section of Rights and Interests is to a bridge connecting students with the School and the University. It actively collects students' reasonable demands online and offline, actively conducts researches on problems, and gives effective feedback on relevant demands in a timely manner. It carries out law popularization and publicity to raise students' awareness of legal rights protection. It holds a series of external field activities on March 15 Consumer Rights Day. On December 4 Constitution Day and in the Constitution Publicity Week, it holds Constitution-related theme activities. Besides, by holding Constitution Lecturing Volunteer Service Activity, using new media to carry out solicitation of “the Constitution and I” micro films and “Three-line Poem” and other themed activities of “Learning and Lecturing the Constitution”, it deeply popularizes the knowledge about the Constitution. Moreover, at the important time nodes, such as 5·20, it carries out special external field and online activities to enrich students’ daily life.
General Office
The General Office coordinates the implementation of work of all sections of the Graduate Students’ Union, regularly holds regular meetings and carries out internal team building activities of the Graduate Students’ Union. At the same time, it is responsible for financial management, material purchase, member assessment and other comprehensive work.
Academic Section
The Academic Section mainly holds various academic exchange activities, such as debate competition, academic forum, lectures, exchange meetings and moot court to improve students' academic quality and innovative thinking ability, inspire wisdom and pursue truth, and it is committed to cultivating a good academic atmosphere for the School.
Graduate Student Debate Team: Affiliated to the Academic Section, it ever participated in Beijing Normal University "Gold Voice Cup" Graduate Student Debate Competition, Moot Court debate competition and LAW7 University Union debate competition on behalf of the Law School.
Practice Section
Oriented towards internship, employment and society, the Practice Section is a booster for students to increase their social practice experience and a small helper for students to find jobs and get employed. The Practice Section irregularly organizes and hosts career talks of various enterprises and institutions, regularly pushes high-quality internship and employment information to students, invites outstanding senior schoolmates to share employment experience, organizes a series of employment-related training, and carries out law-popularization activities for the society.
Liaison Section
The Liaison Section is the external window of the Graduate Students’ Union of the Law School. By establishing cooperative relations with other enterprises and businesses, it provides some financial and material support for the Graduate Students’ Union, and meanwhile, it establishes relations with other universities and institutions to undertake related activities.
News Transmission Center
The News Transmission Center is responsible for the publicity and reports of the work of the Graduate Students’ Union of the Law School. Relying on new media technology, it can report the activities of various sections in a more timely and effective manner. Under the News Transmission Center, there are WeChat public platform operation group, photography group, video group, and text group.
Alumni Exchange Center
The Alumni Exchange Center is responsible for the communication and contact of alumni and the development of fellowship activities with other colleges and universities, and it strengthens the contact with alumni by a series of activities of searching for alumni. At the same time, it strengthens the exchange between students through the fellowship with various universities in Beijing.
Section of Literature and Art
The Section of Literature and Art is mainly responsible for graduate students' vocal music, dance, etiquette and evening party, etc., and also participates in the planning of campus singer competition and the production of short films of literature and art.
Sports Section
The Sports Section is committed to providing students who like sports with a stage to show themselves, and making those who don't like sports can gain health and happiness from sports.
