From August 2nd , 2018 to August 23rd, 2018, under the leadership of teacher Liu Hang, nine students from the law school went to the UK to participate in the summer school of The University of Law for three weeks.
In the project within three weeks, nine students of the law school studied and communicated in the Bloomsbury campus and Moorgate campus of the University of Law in London. During this period, they listened to 18 lectures carefully prepared by the University of Law, covering the British legal system, European law, common law, contract law, speech skills, legal ethics, legal qualification and profession, mock court introduction and training, etc. Each lecturer would lead students to have a heated discussion and communication, and give detailed answers to questions raised by students.
Moot court competition is an important part of the summer school in the University of Law, and it is also an important way of legal practical teaching, according to the cases set by the school, the participants of each group analyzed the basic cases, divided the roles of the prosecution and defense, prepared legal documents, and entered the court debate. The school chose the venue of the mock court competition in the Royal Court of Justice. Students elaborated and debated the case in the real trial environment, deepened the understanding and application of professional knowledge, and gained valuable experience and experience.
In spare time, students participated in various activities hosted by the university, including the Supreme Court, Houses of Parliament, The Royal Court of Justice, The four Inns of Court and The Law Society. In addition to the activities organized by the university, Students also visited the famous historical sites and landmarks of London, such as The British Museum, The National Gallery, London Eye, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, etc. “It is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books”,This summer school not only improves students' English language skills, but also provides them with opportunities to experience diverse cultures, broadens their international vision and professional knowledge, and enhances their social practice ability and initiative exploration awareness.
During the project, three students graduated from the law school who is studying for a master's degree at University College London came to bloomsbury campus to have a warm communication with the students who participated in the program on the application conditions, course setting and selection, learning methods, graduation employment rate, information about school life and other issues, shared the experience and harvest of studying abroad with the students.
This summer exchange program is the first cooperation between the BNU law school and The University of Law. Students of the law school actively participated in it and performed well, which was highly recognized by The University of Law and successfully obtained the project completion certificate. This project is novel in form and rich in activity contents. It combines academic research and field visits closely, greatly enhancing students' interest and enthusiasm in learning.
